Autobiography

Escapist Theory was raised in Buchanan, a small town in Westchester County, N.Y. She spent the duration of her early adult years in Hamden, where she attended the beautiful Quinnipiac University. From a young age, she was known to constantly carry a journal, reporting on tidbits of nearly everything. Before enrolling in college, she brought this fervor for writing to her first internship at a local newspaper. In the midst of reporting on town and school board meetings, interviewing locals and compiling articles, she found her passion. When the college application process began, Escapist Theory already knew she wanted to become a journalist. Following the footsteps of her mother, a Quinnipiac alumna herself, Escapist Theory went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in print journalism with a minor in sociology. Discovering her love for social media and the online world, she discovered a new passion that merged the web with journalism; a passion that led to her pursuit of a Master of Science degree in interactive communications.
Throughout her experience at Quinnipiac, Escapist Theory worked for two companies that merged the print and online world. In the spring of 2012, she interned for a multi-million dollar entertainment company, producing content for a kids’ and adult’s magazine, as well as the company website. Approximately six months later, she interned for a marketing/event planning company in the local Hamden area. Working strictly with social media, she produced content to attract a specific age demographic to a major company event.
As a recent college graduate, Escapist Theory has since returned home to Buchanan to pursue her graduate degree. She refers to herself as “Escapist Theory” due to her love of dreaming, which inspires her to express her creativity in the form of writing and drawing. Escapist Theory’s dream is to travel, and she hopes that combining the information acquired from her undergraduate and graduate degrees will allow her to successfully do so, with a fun-filled career in the media world.

  1. Hi Escapist Theory! My main suggestion for your autobiography would be to write it in first person bc that’s how they are usually written. That said, I won’t bother putting brackets around anything that refers to writing in the second person, just superfluous words and suggestions in parenthesis like before.

**Our writing styles are so similar that its truly hard to critique yours. Without the help of Zinnser, this would be next to impossible, but I hope you appreciate it. It’s great to get to know you and your background. It really makes me connect with you on a bigger level and leaves me craving more. Great job, Escapist Theory!
